Try Using Tarot Cards

Tip: When developing your intuition, do a daily intuitive check in.

Try: Using Tarot Cards. I like them for daily check ins. They are great because there are 100’s of different kinds of decks. Go to your local bookstore or metaphysical shop and take a look.

Power Animals
Mythical Goddess Tarot
Goddess Oracle

If you don't know which decks to try, please comment below , and I will recommend a few.

How do you do a daily check in with Tarot Cards?
Hold the deck in your hand and ask a clear question. Try using open-ended questions.

Ex: What do I need to know about ______ [work, family, health, my spiritual path] today?

Look at the colors, the symbols, the words, and the overall image on the card. How does the card correlate to the question that you asked? Give yourself a moment to connect to the card and the message.

If you feel stuck, use the little book that came with the deck. Remember that intuition is not just what we decipher on our own, but also using all the resources we have. I like to keep the card out so that I review it and keep reflecting on how the message is showing up through out the day.

Be a Psychic Detective

Tip: Be like a detective with your intuition.

Try: When you desire guidance, ask questions. Don’t give up. If you receive guidance you don’t understand, ask more questions. I find that asking open-ended questions works great. Start with what do I need to know right now?

Please keep in mind a few things:
  1. If you feel like giving up? Please remember that depending on how your intuition works, answers can arrive in different ways. It takes practice to receive messages. Feel free to check out some of my previous articles about practicing connecting to your intuition.
  2. Mixed messages? Not being able to decipher the messages you get. Not a  big deal. Just ask a different question. And then again.
  3. Irregular frequency? With regular practice your intuition will become louder. The messages will be clearer. Your trust will be greater and the whole thing will seem more natural.

What messages are there for you today?

Recognizing our spirit

Access to joy and being present exists in connection to source. Being able to recognize what is us versus something or someone else helps us to connect.

I recommend starting with exploring the unique expression that is “us”. Once we can recognize our own spirit, we have the delight in recognizing what feeds our spirit, and then we can move on to recognizing the spirit of those around us.

For some, you might have to extend your memory back to a time when you lived more instinctually (childhood) and granted yourself full freedom of expression.

Recognizing your own Spirit:
  1. Where in your life do you feel most like yourself?
  2. What hobbies or activities do you do where you are able to fully immerse yourself?
  3. What inspires you?
Recognizing what feeds your Spirit:
  1.  What experiences and activities leave you truly alive and nurtured?
  2. What around you delights you; surprises you; supports you in embracing life?
  3. What are you doing, seeing, saying, or experiencing when you feel most comfortable in your own skin?
Doing this exercise myself, here is what I learned.

My spirit is solid, warm, sensual, curious, and motherly (sometimes a little bossy).

What feeds my spirit:
music (playing it, listening to it, seeing it live), words (poetry, prose, great lyrics, books, movies), traveling to new places, laughter, learning new things, physical touch, dancing, drawing with pencil and pastel, digging in the dirt, growing things, spicy food that can be eaten with chopsticks, swimming in the ocean, singing, scenery that is a multi-sensory experience like the cliffs of Morher, County Clare, Ireland:

"Is this mine?"

Tip: What you are feeling or experiencing in your body may not be yours.

Try: Using your intuition to check in with your body.

Remember that our intuition is connected to our curiosity and can be activated by asking ourselves questions. If you feel sick, sad, or tired (or emotionally drained), ask "Is this mine? Or does this belong to someone else?" When it is yours, check and ask your body what it needs.

If your feel, know, hear, or get that it is someone else, say

"I uncreate and rescind this connection now. I release it completely. So mote it be (or Amen)!"

Then jump around a little. I like to flick my hands like I have just washed them and don’t have a towel. Imagine that the energy that doesn’t belong to you is like water flying off and evaporating.

Our Job is to be Happy

Tip: What if your only job in life was to be happy?
“Happiness is when what you think, what you say,
and what you do are in harmony.” ― Mahatma Gandhi

Try: Keeping a gratitude journal. (Thanks Oprah)
Everyday make a list of 5 things that you are grateful for. In the beginning, it might be challenging to find different things everyday. Part of keeping the journal is that your eyes, heart, and head will just be on the look out for things to add. What we look for evidence for we find. You might just find that a list of 5 things might be too short.

Here is an example entry:
1. My vegetable garden growing
2. The love of my husband
3. My sister Summer's inspirational weight loss
4. I am so grateful for my mom's support
5. My body's ability to heal quickly

What do you want to create?

Tip:  Think of healing as a created future instead of what you are "fixing"
i.e. Create healthy new relationships, a new habit that serves you, a new belief or way of thinking that you want to foster. Healing allows more love in and allows you to share more love with others. The really good news is that once you begin the process of healing it is exponential. It builds on itself and touches and impacts every area of your life.

Try: Visualizing a future of your creation as the first step in healing.
Take some deep breaths in through your heart and then exhale out the back of your heart. Allow yourself to connect to your heart and your true desire.  Brainstorm what area of life you want to focus on i.e.: career, romance, health, family, purpose, future etc. Then write a scenario in which you are acting, feeling, believing, and experiencing this new area of life. The more vivid the visualization the more your body will believe it. For some you can do this all in your mind. I like to write things out.

Blessings

Connect To Your Body To Stay Present

Tip: Connect to your body. Our bodies are receiving constant streams of information from our 5-physical senses and our psychics senses as well.  Over the last 15 years when I take the time to get connected to my body, I have found that distinguishing between intuition, physical sensations, and intellect is much easier. Essentially, being connected to our bodies helps us stay present.

Try: Taking a walk.
To do this 'try', take a moment before you begin your walk to connect to your breath.

Close your eyes and take a breath.
Follow your inhalation
--in through the nose--down your throat--filling your lungs
-Hold for a moment-
Follow your exhalation
--stomach pressing the air out--up through your throat--out your mouth
Do this for 5-10 breaths. The idea is to slow your brain down so you can connect to your body more easily.

When you begin your walk, instead of letting your brain go to its usual chatter ask the following questions:

Are my leg muscles tight or loose?
Am I walking heel to toe or toe to heel?
Is this the best stride for my hips?
Does this feel good to my neck and shoulders?
What part of my body likes this?

See if you can actually notice what each limb and muscle are doing. Notice how your feet feel at every step as they connect to the ground. Try walking swinging your arms or keeping them still at your side. How does the difference feel to your body. Try walking in different environments. See how your body feels about being on a quiet nature path or on a sidewalk next to a street? Try taking off your shoes and walking in the grass or sand barefoot. How does your body like that?
